About thehive.games

Hi, I'm Ando, founder and developer of thehive.games.
I'm a web designer and developer, a game developer, and co-founder of a small indie game studio.

How it started

Around 2021 I was looking for co-founders and team members for a video game project, and I found it pretty unsatisfying and impractical to post my ads across a dozen Discord channels. What I wanted was a kind of directory of the people working in games, so that you could filter by location, profession and skills and find exactly the right colleagues and collaborators. Since nothing like that existed, I sat down and built it myself.

Purpose

thehive.games is meant to become the place to go for all the busy bees in the games industry – students, experienced game designers, developers, artists and everyone else, or simply hobbyists looking to find like-minded people and connect. The core of it is matching up jobs and collaborations, but the platform is meant to grow further and make more kinds of interaction possible. I need your feedback for that, so please do send me bug reports, ideas, feature requests and suggestions.

How we treat each other

Insulting, racist or sexist behaviour is not tolerated on thehive.games. If something like that happens to you, just report the account in question and we will take care of it.

Privacy

On thehive.games we take particular care not to pass our users' data on to third parties unnecessarily. That is why we do not use tracking software such as Google Analytics, for instance. It is also the reason no cookie consent banner is shown: it simply isn't necessary, because no third-party services or tools are embedded. As soon as you register you do of course have to accept the privacy policy, because you necessarily have to give us your email address, for example. Beyond that you decide for yourself what information you reveal in your profile. Do keep in mind that a large part of it is publicly visible.
