Company Description

Silent Games is a game development studio with a focus on RPG games! We’re making a new stylised RPG inspired by Magical Girl anime - think Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura and Madoka Magica. We hope to bring the passion and authenticity needed to create a game that this community will love for years to come!

Overview:

We’re looking for a Senior Game Designer to help us with designing and owning core systems for our Magical Girl RPG. This is a permanant, full-time, in-office position. You will work with a small close knit team of developers to ensure gameplay is the best it can be, as well as supporting our Technical Designer with documentation, feedback and implementation. Please note that this role requires experience with UE5 implementation and not just on-paper design. Magickademy is in the wholesome/cosy space so experience of this genre would be helpful. The type of designer we are looking for is someone hard-working, innovative, able to take candid and constructive feedback, and is ideally part of the fandom we are trying to design for.

We may also consider an experienced Intermediate Designer for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Create high quality design documentation for a variety of systems including the macro and micro loops, core progression systems and more

  • Iterate and refine implemented design mechanics

  • Document and share best practices with team members

  • Collaborate with all disciplines to ensure best design solutions are implemented effectively

  • Work within Unreal Engine 5 to implement/tweak gameplay systems and features

  • Supporting our Technical Designer with feedback, documentation and UE5 implementation

Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of RPG systems and mechanics

  • Experience with Ability Based Combat

  • Strong documentation and presentation skills

  • Ability to work effectively with other disciplines such as 3D art, animation and programming

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Experience running playtests, interpreting the results and making tangible improvements based on player feedback

  • Ability to work with UE5

  • Strong knowledge of Magical Girl anime and the associated fanbase
