Gameplay Programmer Technical Lead
Compétences: C# Game Design Unity

About the role
We're looking for a Senior Unity Generalist to act as Technical Lead on a 6-month contract to help us finish and ship our next puzzle game in Unity 6.
The game is built on the shapez 2 codebase, a large C# project with over 400k LoC across 100+ assemblies. A large part of the game already exists.
We’re looking for support in completing the final stretch: you will be working on whatever is between the current state of the game and its release, meaning UI, bugs, scene and art integration, as well as gameplay features.
You’ll join a small team of engineers, artists, and designers working on the project. You’ll work with the studio Lead of Engineering and help the project technical team get the game shipped on time.
Speed matters most right now, so we want someone who works fast with modern tools, AI-assisted coding included.
Your responsibilities
Bring a number of game features from early functional phases to polished and shippable, across:
Build and finish UI screens and flows from designer documents and mockups
Integrate art environments and scenes into the game
Iterate on gameplay features with game design, and close the gaps in their specifications
Find and fix bugs anywhere in the codebase, including older Shapez 2 code
Keep the game stable for external playtests
Work with the other engineers to find the right solutions, balancing speed, product impact, and code quality
Coordinate with the producer on the project, and work on the plan to achieve our target dates
Improve the team's tools and workflows, including AI-assisted coding, so the speed-up stays after your contract ends
Assignment
About you
You will likely have:
Professional C# experience in Unity, shipping features that players used
Shipped at least one Unity game, including its final months before release
Experience with AI-assisted coding tools, and the judgement to review their output
Owned features end to end without detailed acceptance criteria
In addition, you may have:
Acted as technical lead for a small engineering team, including teaching them tools or workflows
Built game UI in Unity with uGUI
Worked with UniTask, Addressables or Odin Inspector
Built a game client that talks to an online backend
Written automated tests in Unity
Worked on a puzzle, factory or automation game
Previously joined teams who are working on games with existing codebases
If you match most of this and can start soon, please apply.
What we offer
A 6-month direct contract
An option to extend the contract for post-launch support
Fully remote
Start immediately
Next Steps & How to Apply
We want to decide within two weeks of your application.
A technical interview with the Engineering Team Lead: we talk about games you shipped and teams you led.
An HR and culture interview with our HR and Founder/CEO or Studio Producer about the contract and how we will work together
A bug-fix task: under NDA, you clone our game and fix 1-2 real (small!) bugs from our backlog with the tools you normally use, and we thank you with a 50 euro gift voucher
We are happy to discuss any requested accommodation to the above process.
