Sony Interactive Entertainment

Sony Interactive Entertainment started in 1993 as Sony Computer Entertainment and has its head office in San Mateo, California. It is a subsidiary of the Sony group.

The company develops the PlayStation consoles and their peripherals, runs the network and subscription services that go with them, and publishes the games of its own development studios, including titles for PlayStation VR.

Because the platform is its own, work here reaches from hardware and system software to the certification of titles that other companies submit for release.
