Server Administrator
Running the servers behind a live game: availability, patch windows, monitoring and the load that arrives with an event.
This tag marks operations work on the game side. The systems are long-running, stateful and watched by players in real time, so postings ask for Linux administration, monitoring with Prometheus, Grafana or Zabbix, databases under load, and experience with the orchestration and configuration tools a deployment team uses - Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform and their relatives. Scripting in Python, Go or Bash is expected, as is incident response with a clear account of what happened afterwards.
What makes the role specific is the rhythm of a live service: a patch goes out at a fixed hour, an event doubles the concurrent players, and a rollback has to be possible while people are logged in. Capacity planning and maintenance windows are part of the brief rather than an afterthought.
IT Systems Administrator looks after the studio's own machines. DevOps Engineer and Platform Engineer build the pipelines and services; this role keeps them standing.
