Boxelware GmbH

Small studio in Erlangen, founded in 2016, behind the space sandbox Avorion and the park simulation Aquapark Tycoon.

Boxelware was founded in January 2016 in Erlangen and started as a one-person studio before a second developer joined.

Its first game is Avorion, a space sandbox in which players build their own ships and then explore, mine, trade or go to war, in single player or co-op. Aquapark Tycoon, announced in 2024, is a quieter simulation about building and running a water park.

Both titles are systemic sandbox games with a co-op mode, and the studio states that it builds the games it wants to play itself.
