C#

C# is the language of Unity gameplay code and of a large share of the tooling built around game production.

In games, C# shows up in two places. The first is Unity: gameplay systems, editor extensions and the whole scripting layer of a project are written in it, and performance work there means understanding garbage collection, the job system and where the engine boundary costs time.

The second is tooling and services. Build tools, asset converters, internal dashboards and backend services are often written in C# because the team already knows it, and they run far away from any frame budget.

Adverts asking for C# usually also ask for C++ somewhere in the stack, which is the signal that engine or platform code is part of the job. Where only C# appears, the work tends to sit in Unity or in tooling around it.
